PR Mission – Day 1

PR Mission – Day 1

Day 1

Friday, we drove down to Charlotte, NC, to stay in a hotel to prepare for our 11:50 am flight to San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Our first official day, however, started as we got up sharing breakfast, Saturday morning.
We could feel the excitement and anxiety of traveling, all around room, as we prepared our way to the airport.

Surprisingly, we experienced a very smooth check-in process. The line at TSA wasn’t as bad, at all, plus 8 of our team members became (?) TSA pre, which made the whole process a breeze.

The flight to San Juan was on time and everyone enjoyed the 3-hour long flight, including Terri.

After we got all our luggage, we met with our contact, who drove us to the Methodist Church of Puerto Rico, Los Angelas.

Greggory, the Trustee chair, greeted us and helped us settle in. We are staying on the second floor of this church for the remainder of our trip, and will also join their worship tomorrow morning.

We ate our first Puertorican dinner and headed out for an evening tour of Old San Juan.

After the tour, we came back to the church and finished the day with a time of sharing and praying!

Continue to join us on this journey, through prayer and also following this blog.

Waiting

Saturday was a day of waiting. We waited for the van to take us to the airport. We waited to check our bags. We waited to board the plane. We waited to take off. We waited to land. We waited for our transportation. And now we wait for our work assignment to begin.
So what have we been doing while we wait. Eating, of course. Resting some. Reading our Bibles. Doing our daily devotion. Praying – especially on the airplane. A little sightseeing. And talking and listening – to each other, to those we encounter. Joking, sharing stories, learning about the lives of the people here in Puerto Rico and the destruction brought about by Hurricane Maria. We are taking in their culture and language.
And we wait to see what God will have us do as His hands and feet in Puerto Rico. But we also wait to see what He will reveal to each of us – the lessons we will learn from each other and from the wonderful people of Puerto Rico.
God will not waste any of our time here. Even in waiting, He has much to teach us all.
Thank you all for your prayers!

God bless,

Ellen
