Living in Harmony – John 13:33-35
33 Little children, I am with you only a little longer. You will look for me; and as I said to the Jews so now I say to you, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come.’ 34 I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
What the passage says
V. 33 Jesus says that he will be going back to the Lord
V. 34-35 As he leaves, Jesus give us a new commandment. Jesus is saying, now it is the time for the disciples to do what he did.
What does the passage say to me/us?
It is ironic to talk about Jesus leaving when we are waiting for him to come. However, he completes his mission, by sharing the task with us. When we love others, we are completing the mission why Christ came down to earth.
Prayer
Lord, you came from heaven to earth to show the way. Help us to live like you. Help us to continue your mission.
