Ila James Kingrea Parson
July 19, 1924 – September 18, 2017 Ila James Kingrea Parsons, 93, of Roanoke, Va., went to be with our Lord on Monday, September 18, 2017. She was predeceased by her parents, Hobart Arold Kingrea and Nellie Frances Pugh; her husband of 67 years, James Robert Parsons Sr.; and two grandchildren, Lindsey and Geoffrey Bayne. Ila was a long-time member of Raleigh Court United Methodist Church. She also made many friendships during her 60-year sewing circle group. Ila was an avid gardener and doll collector. Left to cherish Ila’s memory are her three children, Sandra Bayne and James Parsons Jr. of Roanoke, Va., and Frances Workman (David) of Whitsett, N.C.; her grandchildren, Christa Davis Acampora (Ralph) of Pelham, N.Y., and Caren Davis League (Britt IV) of Chesapeake, Va.; and her great-grandchildren, Maxwell Acampora and Madelanne, Britt V, and Braden League. She is also survived by two stepgrandchildren, Shawn Workman (Cristina) and their children, Keirsten, Kaedun, Ian and Eli, of Burlington, N.C., and Kristina Workman (Lauren) and their child, Bryce, of Smyrna, Ga.; and a niece, Mary Bishop Zimmerman of Blacksburg, Va. A Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 22, 2017, at Raleigh Court United Methodist Church with the Rev. Seungsoo Jun and the Rev. Roy Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2017, at Oakey’s South Chapel, 4257 Brambleton Ave., SW, Roanoke, VA 24018.
