Today's Scripture

Coffee With God Psalm 34:8-14

O taste and see that the Lord is good;
    happy are those who take refuge in him.
O fear the Lord, you his holy ones,
    for those who fear him have no want.
10 The young lions suffer want and hunger,
    but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.

11 Come, O children, listen to me;
    I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
12 Which of you desires life,
    and covets many days to enjoy good?
13 Keep your tongue from evil,
    and your lips from speaking deceit.
14 Depart from evil, and do good;
    seek peace, and pursue it.

RJ's Devotion

What Does the Passage Say?

V. 8-10 Take joy in the Lord. The joy of Lord, and even respecting the Lord, will fulfill our lives.
V. 11-14 When we teach our next generation to fear the Lord, they will seek the peace that comes from God, and pursue that peace.

What Does the passage Mean to Me/Us?

The Lord is good and the source of life.
The Psalmist tells us to fear God and even teach how we need to teach how to fear the Lord.
Fearing the Lord means to have reverence for the Lord. Ultimately, surrendering our lives.
When we completely give our lives to our Lord experience the fullness of life, without continuing to want.
Does God satisfy all our desires, or we keep on seeking other things in the world because we don’t seek the fulfillment from God?

Prayer

Lord, we need you more. We fear you and give our lives to you. In Christ Name, we pray, AMEN.
