Today's Scripture

Isaiah 35:1-2

The Return of the Redeemed to Zion

35 The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad,
    the desert shall rejoice and blossom;
like the crocus it shall blossom abundantly,
and rejoice with joy and singing.
The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it,
the majesty of Carmel and Sharon.
They shall see the glory of the Lord,
    the majesty of our God.

What Does the Passage Say?

From The Message

The Voiceless Break into Song

35 1-2 Wilderness and desert will sing joyously,
the badlands will celebrate and flower—
Like the crocus in spring, bursting into blossom,
a symphony of song and color.
Mountain glories of Lebanon—a gift.
    Awesome Carmel, stunning Sharon—gifts.
God’s resplendent glory, fully on display.
    God awesome, God majestic.

What Does the passage Mean to Me/Us?

When Grandma Shockley did her housework, she sang her favorite hymns. “I’ll
Fly Away” and “Jubilee” were among her favorites. She was so happy. We all
thought she was hitting the sauce in a jug with XXX on it. Well, one day she did fly
away. As we cleaned her house after her death, my Dad had to cut the lid off the
bottle. All that was inside the bottle was cob webs. She really was filled with the
Holy Spirit. She had only moved the jug to clean around it. She saw a day coming
of glorious, unfathomable sensory overload. Glory be to God!
