Today's Scripture

Choosing Joy – Psalm 118: 26 – 29

Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.
We bless you from the house of the Lord.
27 The Lord is God,
and he has given us light.
Bind the festal procession with branches,
up to the horns of the altar.

28 You are my God, and I will give thanks to you;
you are my God, I will extol you.

29 O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever.

What the passage says

V. 26 – 27 The psalmist praises God who gives victory. The victory brought light into the darkness.

V. 28-29 The psalmist proclaims that he belongs to God because God’s love endures forever.

What does the passage mean to me/us?

When we read the entire Psalm, it is easier to understand why the psalmist is praising God’s faithfulness.

God’s love endures forever, all the time.

However, that love shines brighter, when God brings victory over tough situations in life.

The psalmist experienced God’s hand and shares how he will continue to live in God’s providence.

Putting our trust in God is a blessing and as much as it is a challenge of our lives.

When we experience God’s grace and working hand, the best way is to continue to trust in the Lord and be thankful.

Prayer

Lord, we trust in you. May we continue to live this life, as your child, who belongs to you.
In Christ Name, we pray, AMEN
