Today's Scripture
Leaning on God – Psalm 28:6-9
6 Blessed be the Lord,
for he has heard the sound of my pleadings.
7 The Lord is my strength and my shield;
in him my heart trusts;
so I am helped, and my heart exults,
and with my song I give thanks to him.
8 The Lord is the strength of his people;
he is the saving refuge of his anointed.
9 O save your people, and bless your heritage;
be their shepherd, and carry them forever.

What the passage says
V. 6-7 The Psalmist have a firm conviction of God being the ‘shield he trusts in.’ He made the pledge to rely on the Lord and continues his praises of thanksgiving.
V. 8-9 The confidence of the Psalmist, continues to how God becomes an active shield for the people of God.
What does the passage say to me/us?
Do we live in that firm conviction that God is our shield and protector?
A lot of the times, especially when hardships encounter us, it ‘s hard to see God as our protector.
We can ask if you are protecting me, why is this happening to me?
However, we do have to remember that the world is wicked and it will continue to throw troubles to our life.
In those times, remember this verse from 1 Corinthians 10:13, “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”
Relying on God is not to expect that there all troubles in the world will pass us by. Relying on the Lord means, when we encounter the problems, God will be with us to overcome all difficulties.
When we have a strong faith in the Lord who helps us to overcome all obstacles, we see how that same God is willing to be present in the lives of others.
Prayer
Lord, help us to see you in the time of difficulties. Help us to be strengthened in relying on you. Help us to share how you are our shield and protector. In Christ name, we pray, AMEN
