Today's Scripture

role model – Titus 2:1-8

TODAY’S READING SCHEDULE: Titus 1-3(CEB)

But you should talk in a way that is consistent with sound teaching. Tell the older men to be sober, dignified, sensible, and healthy in respect to their faith, love, and patience.

Likewise, tell the older women to be reverent in their behavior, teaching what is good, rather than being gossips or addicted to heavy drinking. That way they can mentor young women to love their husbands and children, and to be sensible, morally pure, working at home, kind and submissive to their own husbands, so that God’s word won’t be ridiculed. Likewise, encourage the younger men to be sensible in every way. Offer yourself as a role model of good actions. Show integrity, seriousness, and a sound message that is above criticism when you teach, so that any opponent will be ashamed because they won’t find anything bad to say about us.

What does this passage mean to me/us

We are called to live a life that will be a role model for others.
It is a responsibility that is shared with each other.
When we acknowledge that we are to carry out that responsibility, we experience a transformation.
We don’t become a great parent, because we have a child. We become a great parent when we acknowledge the responsibility to be a role model.
In the same way, we can’t live holy just because it is our call. We become a true believer when we acknowledge the responsibility to pour our life for another believer to become a role model, following our Lord, who is the ultimate role model.

Prayer

Lord, we hear you call to lead others in faith. Help us to see that call, and see how you transform our lives!  In Christ name, we pray, AMEN.
