Today's Scripture

trust in the Lord – Isaiah 26:-6

TODAY’S READING SCHEDULE: Isaiah 23-27

In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah:

We have a strong city;
    God makes salvation
    its walls and ramparts.
Open the gates
    that the righteous nation may enter,
    the nation that keeps faith.
You will keep in perfect peace
    those whose minds are steadfast,
    because they trust in you.
Trust in the Lord forever,
    for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.
He humbles those who dwell on high,
    he lays the lofty city low;
he levels it to the ground
    and casts it down to the dust.
Feet trample it down—
    the feet of the oppressed,
    the footsteps of the poor.

What does this passage mean to me/us

After the destruction is over, there is a message of reflection and hope.
Isaiah says that this will be a song ‘sung by the people of Judah,’ which means that the remnants and the people returning back would have sung this song.
The song is a song of renewed trust. If we remember the back ground of Isaiah’s prophecy, how the people didn’t fully trust the Lord, we can understand the song better.
When the renewed trust is established there is hope that follows.

Are we in a stage to renew our trust in God?

Prayer

Lord, in you we give all our trust. Let us not turn our eyes on other help in the world.  In Christ name, AMEN.
