Today's Scripture

TODAY’S READING SCHEDULE:

Hearts that bless others
Verses: Proverbs 27:19, Proverbs 28:27

As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.”  Proverbs‬ ‭27:19‬ ‭NIV‬‬‬‬

“Those who give to the poor will lack nothing, but those who close their eyes to them receive many curses.” Proverbs‬ ‭28:27‬ ‭NIV‬‬‬‬

What does this passage mean to me/us

Our physical being, how we look and feel, matters a great deal to most of us. David Jeremiah states “The face that is reflected in a placid pool of water says very little about a person. A glimpse into the heart – discerning what a person loves and values – reveals his or her true character.” We often think we know about people if we just look at them, but we really know very little until we get to know their hearts. God knows each one of our hearts because He created each of us. He knows what is deep in our hearts and souls. Jesus taught us by example that we should love and care for others and that we should give to those who are in need. In Proverbs, we learn that God promises blessings to those who give to the poor and the needy. As we are blessed, we can then be a blessing to others. RJ has helped us focus on loving God and loving others for the transformation of the world. May our hearts reflect the love of Christ as we bless others with the love that Christ has taught us. – contributed by Sarah Pero

Prayer

Dearest Lord Jesus, May our hearts be so filled with Your love that each and every day, we will pass on the blessings You give to us to those who are in the greatest need. We lack for nothing when You bless us with Your love and care.
In Christ’s name we pray, Amen
