Today's Scripture
James 2: 14-17 God Cares For Us
14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but do not have works? Can faith save you? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and lacks daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and eat your fill,” and yet you do not supply their bodily needs, what is the good of that? 17 So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead.

What the passage says
The Message version says,
14-17 Dear friends, do you think you’ll get anywhere in this if you learn all the right words but never do anything? Does merely talking about faith indicate that a person really has it? For instance, you come upon an old friend dressed in rags and half-starved and say, “Good morning, friend! Be clothed in Christ! Be filled with the Holy Spirit!” and walk off without providing so much as a coat or a cup of soup—where does that get you? Isn’t it obvious that God-talk without God-acts is outrageous nonsense?
What does the passage mean to me/us?
If we come to faith, just to acknowledge and confirm God exists, what is the point?
We can see God in nature, and in the world. We can see God in our love ones.
We need to, therefore, change our perspective of God and our purpose in God.
The purpose of life, following God’s mission, comes from God’s call to Abraham.
“I’ll make you a great nation
and bless you.
I’ll make you famous;
you’ll be a blessing.
I’ll bless those who bless you;
those who curse you I’ll curse.
All the families of the Earth
will be blessed through you.”” (Genesis 12:2-3, The Message).
Our life has to become a testimony of our purpose and faith.
Prayer
Lord, allow us the humility to see our faith and action. Help us to live according to our purpose, to become a blessing to the world. Revive our faith.
In Christ Name, we pray, AMEN
