Today's Scripture
Isaiah 40: 28 – 31 A Time To Wait
28 Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding is unsearchable.
29 He gives power to the faint,
and strengthens the powerless.
30 Even youths will faint and be weary,
and the young will fall exhausted;
31 but those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength,
they shall mount up with wings like eagles,
they shall run and not be weary,
they shall walk and not faint.

What the passage says
V. 28-29 It sounds obvious, but we need to be reminded how God’s love is everlasting. God restores the weary.
V. 30-31 We cannot rely on our own power because even youth will become weary. However, when we mount up on God’s power, we see how God work is done.
What does the passage mean to me/us?
Isaiah is sharing God’s word to God’s people who were exiled.
God told them to rely on God only, and they did not listen.
As a result, they were driven out of the promise land.
Being under the reign of a gentile king was not the best moment of their history.
However, that is when God remind the people that they can always come back to the Lord.
When we try to do it ourselves, we have to remember that we fail.
We can do, what we are called to do, only through our Lord.
God is our only hope.
Prayer
Lord, sometimes, we need a reminder that we cannot do anything apart from you. However, when we come to you, also show us that we can fulfill your purpose through you, who make all things possible. May you be glorified through all we do.
In Christ Name, we pray, AMEN
