Today's Scripture
One Family – Psalm 65:2-8
2 O you who answer prayer!
To you all flesh shall come.
3 When deeds of iniquity overwhelm us,
you forgive our transgressions.
4 Happy are those whom you choose and bring near
to live in your courts.
We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house,
your holy temple.
5 By awesome deeds you answer us with deliverance,
O God of our salvation;
you are the hope of all the ends of the earth
and of the farthest seas.
6 By your[a] strength you established the mountains;
you are girded with might.
7 You silence the roaring of the seas,
the roaring of their waves,
the tumult of the peoples.
8 Those who live at earth’s farthest bounds are awed by your signs;
you make the gateways of the morning and the evening shout for joy.

What Does This Mean to Me? (The Message)
We all arrive at your doorstep sooner
or later, loaded with guilt,
Our sins too much for us—
but you get rid of them once and for all.
Blessed are the chosen! Blessed the guest
at home in your place!
We expect our fill of good things
in your house, your heavenly manse.
All your salvation wonders
are on display in your trophy room.
Earth-Tamer, Ocean-Pourer,
Mountain-Maker, Hill-Dresser,
Muzzler of sea storm and wave crash,
of mobs in noisy riot—
Far and wide they’ll come to a stop,
they’ll stare in awe, in wonder.
Dawn and dusk take turns
calling, “Come and worship.”
What Does This Mean to Me?
God cares for us! This passage states that man realizes how helpless he is to extricate himself from sin. He must turn to our God of heaven. God cares for our spiritual well being. (”O you who hear prayer; to you shall all flesh come.” ESV)
This means that God wants ALL people to come in their weakness and ask him in prayer to save them through his power and might. ALL includes all nations and all people of mankind. God is faithful to his covenant promises. He will forgive our sins and deliver us from evil. He can spare us from the turmoil of nations as he did for the people of Israel. Things happen according to principles God set forth in creation, bringing forth fruitful harvest from the earth and from the people. God as creator is the hope of all the ends of the earth.
Prayer:
Universal and sovereign God. Thank you for using your creative power to deliver those in need. Thank you for our deliverance from sin. We celebrate when man recognizes and acknowledges you, the ultimate source of his blessings. Help us to recognize that we are family as your children. Fill us with your Holy Spirit so that we will know how to love others as you love us. Help us recognize that “our” God is the God of ALL people, all nations, all colors, afflictions and differences. We ask for your blessings in the name of your son, Jesus Christ. Amen
