God’s Gift – Ecclesiastes 5:18-20
18 This is what I have seen to be good: it is fitting to eat and drink and find enjoyment in all the toil with which one toils under the sun the few days of the life God gives us; for this is our lot. 19 Likewise all to whom God gives wealth and possessions and whom he enables to enjoy them, and to accept their lot and find enjoyment in their toil—this is the gift of God. 20 For they will scarcely brood over the days of their lives, because God keeps them occupied with the joy of their hearts.

“To take care of yourself, have a good time, and make the most of whatever job you have for as long as God gives you life. And that’s about it. That’s the Human lot. Yes, we should make the most of what God gives, both the bounty and the capacity to enjoy it, accepting what’s given and delighting in the work. It’s God’s gift! God deals out joy in the present, the now. It’s useless to brood over how long we might live.” – The Message |

| Doesn’t it seem like these verses could easily be taken out of context? God wants me to do whatever makes me happy is what first came to my mind. No. God wants us to realize that it’s not the joys we have that make us happy but knowing the living God and taking everything from his hand with thanksgiving, whether it is pain or pleasure. Knowing that everything comes from God is God’s Gift.
Growing up my father always woke me up with a very loud, almost a scream “boy I feel good this morning.” I finally asked him why he did that every single day, He told me that it’s because God is in control of our life and no matter what happens today I’m going to feel good about it and so should you. This certainly opened my eyes to enjoying the process of life the way my father did. He lived life with a joy like no one I’ve ever known. The ups and downs with my lord and savior. Try starting your day off with a Boy I Feel good this Morning and rejoice in the fact God is in charge. Prayer Heavenly Father, It is so good to know You and be given the freedom to enjoy all that You provide day by day. Help guide our decisions that we honor you and share with others the true joy of knowing you. In Christ’s name we pray, Amen |
