Today's Scripture
God’s Timing Philippians 4:4-9
4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. 5 Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. 6 Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9 Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.

What does the passage say?
V. 4-5 When we are in Christ, our joy and gentleness are shown in the world.
V. 6-7 God’s peace surpasses all worries that can pull us away from our purpose.
V. 8-9 Continue to strive for perfection in Christ, and we will see how God continues to work in us.
What does this passage mean to me/us?
“Celebrate God all day, every day” (v. 4 The Message).
Yes, today is my 40th birthday, and I am trying not to make a big deal.
However, I do have to celebrate God, who walked with me and continues to work through me.
Every day, I pray that I will continue to celebrate in our Lord. And thank God for the great witness of faith I have to celebrate this day.
The Message version put the call for perfection in a unique way. It says, “Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.” (v. 8-9, The Message).
All we need to do is to strive to be faithful to our call; call for perfection.
As we continue to do what we can, we will also see how God will do what God does.
As long as our focus is on reaching God’s purpose, God will continue to work in our lives.
And I pray that I will be able to continue to strive for God’s purpose and God’s purpose only.
May our Lord be glorified in all that we do today.
Prayer
Lord, we praise you, for being our Lord. May you continue to reign in our lives, as we strive to shine your light in this world, today. In Christ name, we pray, AMEN.
