Today's Scripture
True Grace Ephesians 1:3-7
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, 4 just as he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless before him in love. 5 He destined us for adoption as his children through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6 to the praise of his glorious grace that he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace

WHAT DOES THE PASSAGE say?
V. 3. God is to be blessed. However, through Jesus Christ, there are more reasons to praise God’s holy name.
V. 4-5 God chose us to be called children of God, even before the creation of the world.
V. 6-7 The grace of redemption is freely bestowed on us. As Eugene Peterson says, “we’re a free people—free of penalties and punishments chalked up by all our misdeeds. And not just barely free, either. Abundantly free! ” (The Message)
What Does the passage Mean to Me/US?
The excitement of being a chosen child.
Yesterday, I was supposed to lead a Bible Story of David’s anointment. Another conversation started and we didn’t even get to examine the story.
As I was reading that story, I’m pretty sure that David was thrilled to see how God has chosen him.
But I had to ask, ‘Am I really thrilled that God chose me?’
No one can be perfect in front of God, and God still knows that I will never be perfect.
Even so, God chose me?
Not because I am a pastor, but to choose me as God’s child?
I had to think if I had took granted of that grace.
It is truly an Amazing Grace.
When describing this Amazing Grace, Charles Wesley wrote, “And can it be that I should gain
An int’rest in the Savior’s blood? Died He for me, who caused His pain? For me, who Him to death pursued?
Amazing love! how can it be That Thou, my God, should die for me?” (verse 1 of And Can It Be)
How can we not be overwhelmed by this grace?
Prayer
Lord, so many time, we have taken your amazing grace as granted. Show us your love, so we can see and believe the depth of your amazing grace. In Christ Name, we pray, AMEN
