Today's Scripture
The Fig Tree James 5:7-8
7 Be patient, therefore, beloved, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits for the precious crop from the earth, being patient with it until it receives the early and the late rains. 8 You also must be patient. Strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near.

What does the passage say?
V. 7-8 Be patient till the Lord comes.
What does this passage say to me/us?
Having patience is a simple, but difficult task for followers of Christ.
Patience is required when we go through difficulties. It is essential for disciples who are going through tough times because of God’s name sake.
However, the reason why we seek for more patience and try our best to be patient is becasue our Lord is patient.
God is waiting for people to come back to the Lord. God is waiting for God’s people to restore the covenant and continue to be part of God’s mission in this world. That is the reason, why we continue in God’s mission, even though it requires patience.
Especially when Jesus says,
10 “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.11 “Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account” (Matthew 5:10-11, NRSV).
Don’t look at the hardship, fix your eyes on our Lord, who is patient.
Prayer
Lord, give us the patience to live according to your will. Bear your fruits through the patience of your people.
In Christ, we pray, AMEN
