TODAY’S READING SCHEDULE: 2 Samuel 19-20; 2 John 1
Live in Love – 2 John 1:4-6
4 I was overjoyed to find some of your children living in the truth, just as we had been commanded by the Father. 5 Now, dear friends, I am requesting that we love each other. It’s not as though I’m writing a new command to you, but it’s one we have had from the beginning. 6 This is love: that we live according to his commands. This is the command that you heard from the beginning: live in love.
What does this passage mean to me/us?
John shares that if we live in the truth, we should also live out that love. Since living in truth means that we are living in the everlasting love of Jesus Christ, it is natural that we share that love with others. We note that it doesn’t happen the other way around.
We do understand that coming to church doesn’t mean that we have people who exemplify that love. You can start with me. Just being a pastor doesn’t mean that I live out that love. My life is not perfect for projecting that love of Jesus. However, by trying our best to live in love, we pray that others will see the love of Jesus. And that is the reason we will try to live in that love today.
Prayer
Lord, help us in your love. Let others see your love through us today!
