Today's Scripture

TODAY’S READING SCHEDULE: Leviticus 1-3; Hebrews 6

Continue to love and help God’s people… Hebrews 6: 9-12

Even though we speak like this, dear friends, we are convinced of better things in your case—the things that have to do with salvation. God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, so that what you hope for may be fully realized. We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.

What does this passage mean to me/us?  Contributed by Sarah Pero

When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we have the desire to spread His love to others, especially to our fellow Christians. The author of Hebrews acknowledges that God will never forget the love and care one Christian shows to another. We show our love for God by loving and caring for others. Steven J. Cole writes in his commentary about these verses in Hebrews that “genuine salvation is always accompanied by visible evidence. A major evidence of genuine salvation is diligent, faithful service to others out of love for Him. Love for others is work that requires diligence, faithfulness, and  patience.” We are set apart from this world by serving God thru the love and care of others.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, you have taught us how to love one another thru the sacrifice of your own Son. No one on earth has ever given us that kind of love. Thank you for allowing us to honor You thru the love and care of our brothers and sisters in Christ and those who may not yet know you personally. We love you!! In Jesus’ Name, we pray, Amen
