Prayer as a life habit… Hebrews 5:7-9 NIV
During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him
What does this passage mean to me/us? Contributed by Sarah Pero
Jesus Christ was a human being, like you and me, and yet He was morally perfect in every way and never sinned while He walked this earth. He knew why His Father sent Him and He knew that He would suffer greatly to set us all free from our sin. Jesus knew He was not alone and daily He spent time in prayer with God. He made prayer and supplication His life’s habit. At every turn, and in His day to day living, Jesus was found praying. He was always connected to the Father in conversation. From this, He gained strength and direction and comfort when He most needed it. Jesus was completely dependent on God. We should do the same…stay connected to our Heavenly Father thru prayer and turn to Him throughout our day in the good and the bad. We should follow the habit of our Lord Jesus and pray without ceasing.
Prayer
Dear Lord, we are so blessed to have Your ever attentive ear listening to our every supplication and intercession. You love us and care for us always. We cannot imagine life without you. In Jesus’ Name, we pray, Amen
