Today's Scripture
tough love- Jeremiah 46:27-28
TODAY’S READING SCHEDULE: Jeremiah 46-48
27 “Do not be afraid, Jacob my servant;
do not be dismayed, Israel.
I will surely save you out of a distant place,
your descendants from the land of their exile.
Jacob will again have peace and security,
and no one will make him afraid.
28 Do not be afraid, Jacob my servant,
for I am with you,” declares the Lord.
“Though I completely destroy all the nations
among which I scatter you,
I will not completely destroy you.
I will discipline you but only in due measure;
I will not let you go entirely unpunished.”
What does this passage mean to me/us
I might look tough, but I really am not when it comes to our children.
So the concept of loving my children, but at the same time disciplining them is not my forte.
Even though I know it is a right way of parenting, it just seems so harsh.
It is difficult to fully understand God’s love when we see God doing what we can’t do, or loving God’s children in a way that might seem harsh.
We are in a process seeing God’s big picture. We are in the process of understanding God’s will to be done, not ours. However, we hold onto the faithfulness of God, knowing and believing that God’s way is right and just.
Prayer
Lord, help us to see your ways and follow it faithfully. May your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. In Christ name, AMEN.
