Today's Scripture
Holy Seed Isaiah 6:11-13
TODAY’S READING SCHEDULE: Isaiah 5-8
“Until the cities lie ruined
and without inhabitant,
until the houses are left deserted
and the fields ruined and ravaged,
12 until the Lord has sent everyone far away
and the land is utterly forsaken.
13 And though a tenth remains in the land,
it will again be laid waste.
But as the terebinth and oak
leave stumps when they are cut down,
so the holy seed will be the stump in the land.”
What does this passage mean to me/us
This spring, I’ve worked on making a fence for our raised bed gardens. I put up fences and a gate. Made the boxes and filled it with soil.
Bought seed from the local hardware store and planted it.
However, we are yet to see it growing well. I watered and did I that is needed, until I realized that there is a tree, next to the garden, which branches grew so much in the past year, it is covering all the garden area away from Sunlight.
Unless I am able to chop down the tree, I won’t be able to see much harvest from the garden. But it will be time-consuming, and expensive to make it possible. Even though I put so much time, there is not much I can do, unless I start all over somewhere else.
In a similar way, God is starting all over.
God raised and cultivated this nation, however, they fled from God’s light and failed to bear fruit.
God love still remains, but they will not fulfill God’s purpose; the Covenant for all nations.
That is why God needs to start all over, even though it means tearing down everything and starting again.
“But as the terebinth and oakleave stumps when they are cut down, so the holy seed will be the stump in the land. – Isaiah 6:13
The stump represents the ruins of the nation, but the seed and the new sprout represents Christ.
Even though the consequences of not fulfilling God’s purpose seems to be harsh, we are not to forget that God’s love endures.
And even in the toughest situations, God’s hope will sprout out again.
Prayer
Lord, help us see your hope, in times of devastations. Help us, so we can bring that hope to the world. In Christ name, AMEN.
