1 “Don’t make idols for yourselves; don’t set up an image or a sacred pillar for yourselves, and don’t place a carved stone in your land that you can bow down to in worship. I am God, your God.
2 “Keep my Sabbaths; treat my Sanctuary with reverence. I am God.”
44 But in spite of their behavior, while they are among their enemies I won’t reject or abhor or destroy them completely. I won’t break my covenant with them: I am God, their God.
45 For their sake I will remember the covenant with their ancestors whom I, with all the nations watching, brought out of Egypt in order to be their God. I am God.”
46 These are the decrees, laws, and instructions that God established between himself and the People of Israel through Moses at Mount Sinai.

What Does the passage Mean to Me/US?
As we come to the close of the Book of Leviticus, I must admit I have learned a lot because I had to research it to write about it. The more you learn about the book, the more you will understand it. This is a book of instruction about having access to God. He asks that his people follow his laws in all spheres of life and the way to preserve the commandments is to practice them. When your journey does not include walking with God, there will be retribution; a removal of God’s blessings. In Leviticus, the punishments could be pretty harsh, even to the point of death. God was angry with his people for not honoring him as their God. As the book ends, however, God promises to keep his covenant to protect his people, to provide for them and to walk with them as they turn to repentance. He is committed to the restoration of his people since he always remains faithful to his covenant even if his people are disloyal. What or who has authority over your life? What interferes with your walk?
Prayer
Our Faithful God,
Even though there is not an idol altar in our yard, help us to search our hearts to rid ourselves of all that interferes from having our focus only on you, “the Lord our God.” Lead us in our walk with you as we turn away from idols, evils and the distractions of the world we live in. Guide us in ways to strengthen our relationship with you so that we will recognize your voice and your will every minute of every day.
In Jesus’ name, Amen
