Carol Stanley Padgett of Roanoke, VA, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018. She was born in Milburn, WV, to the late Leonard T. Stanley and Virgie Cameron Stanley, where she lived until the age of 7 when her mother passed away. Her next journey took her to Callaway where she lived with grandparents and attended school there, spending summers with family in West Virginia. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Carey E. Padgett, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth R. Spicer, step son, Matthew C. Padgett and wife, Linda, step grandsons, Luke and Johnathan and wife, Amanda, and their children, Ethan, Madalynn and Keaton.
Having worked for a number of years at Sears, Carol retired from Malone & Hyde Food Distributors. After which, she proudly worked for Kazim Shrine Temple for 11 years, retiring a second time at the age of 77. She is a longtime and devoted member Electa Chapter #33 and Etta Chapter #185 of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as a Past Matron, Past Grand Officer and on several state committees. She was a member and supporter of Raleigh Court United Methodist Church.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM, Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at Oakey’s South Chapel with Rev. “RJ” Seungsoo Jun officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 628 Campbell Ave., SW, Roanoke, VA 24016.
