Today's Scripture

My Secret Fear Isaiah 41:9 -10

But you, Israel, my servant,
    Jacob, whom I have chosen,
    the offspring of Abraham, my friend;
you whom I took from the ends of the earth,
    and called from its farthest corners,
saying to you, “You are my servant,
    I have chosen you and not cast you off”;
10 do not fear, for I am with you,
    do not be afraid, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
    I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.

What Does the Passage Say?

V. 8-9 God chosen Israel to be God’s servant in this world.
V. 10 God promises not to leave God’s chosen ones. No need to fear, if God is with us.

What Does the passage Mean to Me/US?

I have arrived back in Roanoke, yesterday afternoon. While we were heading back to Rochester Airport, from the retreat center, we got the notice that my flight was delayed, which resulted not being able to catch my second connection flight back to Roanoke.
The church found a hotel, near the airport, so I can wait for my next flight on Monday. It was a blessing to have time to rest and recharge, reflecting on the weekend.

The theme of this retreat was ‘Revival.’ Our desire for the church to experience a revival seems to be universal.
I have shared that finding our identity and mission in Christ need to precede the revival. When we jump into God’s mission, God pours out a revival for us to carry out God’s mission.

The passage, confirms what I shared. God called to people of Israel, for God’s purpose, as servants.
Not only that God chooses God’s people, God also promised that God will be with them to pour out the strength they need to carry out this mission. However, we will have to remember how God calls us for God’s purpose, not ours.
Do we accept the call of God to be God’s people, every day?
Then if we are God’s people, carrying out God’s purpose, in our daily lives, what strength would we need from God to glorify God’s name?

Prayer

Lord, we ask for presence, in our lives, to be ever more stronger, as we live according to our call today. In Christ Name, we pray, AMEN.
