Today's Scripture

Catch That Thought Isaiah 43:1-3

But now thus says the Lord,
    he who created you, O Jacob,
    he who formed you, O Israel:
Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
    I have called you by name, you are mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
    and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;
when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,
    and the flame shall not consume you.
For I am the Lord your God,
    the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
I give Egypt as your ransom,
    Ethiopia[a] and Seba in exchange for you.

What Does the Passage Say?

V. 1 The Lord says, “Do not fear.” The Lord is the creator and the Lord is who called the people.
V. 2 The Lord promises not to forsake the people. The promise reminds them how God had led them out of Egypt. Also, reminded how Daniel’s friends were safe in the burning furnace.
V. 3 The price God paid to rescue God’s people cost a nation.

What Does the passage Mean to Me/Us?

When we are surrounded by the storm, we tend to forget who we belong to. When we know and BELEIVE who we belong to, we are freed from fear.
However, we live in fear that draws us away to see the truth.
The truth how our Lord is, and will always be with us. The truth that we will never be forsaken. The truth to live acording to God’s will.
God calls us to see who God is, and also see who we are in this relationship.

Prayer

Lord, we come to you, our creator and foundation. Draw us near to your everlasting truth. Help us to fix our eyes on you only. In Christ Name, we pray, AMEN.
