Today's Scripture

Birthday Celebration Psalm 103:1-520

Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
    bless his holy name.
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and do not forget all his benefits—
who forgives all your iniquity,
    who heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the Pit,
who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
who satisfies you with good as long as you live
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

What Does the Passage Say?

V. 1 Psalmist commands his soul to ‘bless the Lord.’
V. 2-5 The Lord blesses us, forgives us, and redeems us from all sins. The Lord’s steadfast love continues to overflow in our lives.

What Does the passage Mean to Me/US?

When we focus too much on asking God to ‘bless us,’ we forget the purpose of our call. We are created to bless the Lord, and through our life, we are to become a blessing to the world. The Psalmist reveals how we, so many times, forget who God is. Therefore, he focuses us on inviting us to join the unending hymn. “Bless the Lord, O my Soul!”
We bless your holy name, and we commit our lives to live as a worshiper!
Help us to share that blessing with the world.

Prayer

Lord, we bless your holy name! With all that I have, may my life become a living sacrifice, offered to your daily. Holy Spirit, come and work in our lives. In Christ Name, we pray, AMEN.
