Let’s march into His Presence – Psalm 95

1 O come, let us sing to the Lord;
    let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;
    let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
For the Lord is a great God,
    and a great King above all gods.
In his hand are the depths of the earth;
    the heights of the mountains are his also.
The sea is his, for he made it,
    and the dry land, which his hands have formed.

O come, let us worship and bow down,
    let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!
For he is our God,
    and we are the people of his pasture,
    and the sheep of his hand.

O that today you would listen to his voice!
    Do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah,
    as on the day at Massah in the wilderness,
when your ancestors tested me,
    and put me to the proof, though they had seen my work.
10 For forty years I loathed that generation
    and said, “They are a people whose hearts go astray,
    and they do not regard my ways.”
11 Therefore in my anger I swore,
    “They shall not enter my rest.”

What does the passage say?

V. 1-7 The Psalmist is calling God’s people to ‘Come to the Lord.’ The Lord is our ‘rock and salvation’ (v.1), ‘a great God’ (v. 3), and a God who ‘cares for God’s people’ (v. 7). However, the Psalmist also points out that the reason people do not see the greatness of God is because of their harden hearts.

V. 8-11 The Psalmist is saying that God’s voice is calling out for us to come, but the people harden their hearts like they did in the wilderness. A couple of days ago, we talked about the water coming out from the rock. –>Read Monday’s devotion

Moses named that place Meribah (quarreling) and Massah (testing).

What does this mean to me/us

God always calls out to God’s people to come to Him. It is God’s love that knows that the people will not be in a whole without this connection. We were created to be in this relationship, and when we don’t have this relationship, we tend to fill it up with other ‘stuff.’

However, the world makes our hearts harden. Instead of coming to God, this hardens heart strays away from God. The more we stray away, the despair we become. And these days, disparity seems to be the norm.

God is still calling out for God’s people to come. God send his only son for this reason – to break down the harden hearts. And now, God is sending us – people who reside in this love. Let us constantly come to our Lord. Let us continue to break our hearts, so God can create a new heart in us. Let us Love God and Love others. We don’t have to be per

We don’t have to be perfect in front of God, just ‘Come as your are.’
