God’s Righteous Judgment- Romans 2:1 -11
Therefore you have no excuse, whoever you are, when you judge others; for in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, are doing the very same things. 2 You say, “We know that God’s judgment on those who do such things is in accordance with truth.” 3 Do you imagine, whoever you are, that when you judge those who do such things and yet do them yourself, you will escape the judgment of God? 4 Or do you despise the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience? Do you not realize that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? 5 But by your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath, when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed. 6 For he will repay according to each one’s deeds: 7 to those who by patiently doing good seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; 8 while for those who are self-seeking and who obey not the truth but wickedness, there will be wrath and fury. 9 There will be anguish and distress for everyone who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek, 10 but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek. 11 For God shows no partiality.
What does the Passage Say?
V. 1- Paul talks how we, as in the Jews, should not pass any judgement about the world that fallen away from God. He says, “So when you, a mere human being, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgement?” (v. 3 NIV)
V. 5-11 Paul accuses the Jews of being judgmental to others at that time and tell them to repent. They need to turn back from their ways of ‘self-seeking’ and see God’s plan. The plan to love all nations and the Jews were the ones, which God started this plan with, and it was important that they turned away from being judgmental.
What does this mean to us?

Paul asks the Jews not to be judgemental to others, which extends to us as followers of Christ. So many times, we become judgmental of others because of the way that they are living. The way of living, which was the reason of judgment would have been the law, and the reason for judgment nowadays should be our Christian values. However, the Bible says, do not pass judgment, because judgment is the authority only God has. We are to see God’s plan that extends to the people, who we might pass judgments.
We need to see our own sinfulness when we encounter people who we might think are doing wrong. We have to see our own ‘self-seeking’ nature and strive to live in a manner which will be different.
Lord, may we live in a way to share more love, not judgment. And open our eyes, so we will see our sinfulness and strive to live more like you. Bear fruits in all we do. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
