Today's Scripture

Nobody Special 1 Corinthians 1:26-29

26 Consider your own call, brothers and sisters: not many of you were wise by human standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; 28 God chose what is low and despised in the world, things that are not, to reduce to nothing things that are, 29 so that no one might boast in the presence of God.

RJ's Devotion

 WHAT DOES THE PASSAGE say?

V. 26-27 Before we were called, we didn’t have much to boast
V. 28-29 God chosen us despite our weakness, which is another reason why we can’t boast of the election.

What Does the passage Mean to Me/US?

There is a Korean expression, ‘The old cow thinks that she never was a calf.”
Paul reminds the followers that the election by God, calling the people for a purpose, was truly by God’s grace.
The portraits several stories how God uses the weak to lead the strong.
Moses was a fugitive, David was a shepherd boy, and Peter was a fisherman.
We also see how when David, who at a moment forgets about his past, sins against God.
If we don’t remember where we come from, we can’t know where God will lead us.
It becomes the reason why we remain thankful, and it reveals God’s greatness in our lives.

Prayer

Lord, it is only by your grace that we are called your people. Help us to remember your grace and share it with others today. . In Christ Name, we pray, AMEN
