Today's Scripture

A Moving Experience Psalms 107:1-8

O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
    for his steadfast love endures forever.
Let the redeemed of the Lord say so,
    those he redeemed from trouble
and gathered in from the lands,
    from the east and from the west,
    from the north and from the south.

Some wandered in desert wastes,
    finding no way to an inhabited town;
hungry and thirsty,
    their soul fainted within them.
Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
    and he delivered them from their distress;
he led them by a straight way,
    until they reached an inhabited town.
Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
    for his wonderful works to humankind.

RJ's Devotion

 WHAT DOES THE PASSAGE say?

V. 1-3 Give thanks to the Lord and share the story of how God redeemed everyone.
V. 4-8 The Lord hears the cry of His people and leads them when they cry out.

What Does the passage Mean to Me/US?

Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
    and he delivered them from their distress; he led them by a straight way,” (v. 6-7 NRSV)

Sometimes we wait until the last minute to cry out to the Lord for help.
Maybe because we think we can handle the situation.
Maybe because we think that God abandoned us, which resulted in the trouble we are going through.

However, God is the God who hears the cry of God’s people. Even in the times when we don’t have the strength to call out to the Lord, God will hear us in our distress. When our hearts cry out to the Lord, God’s steadfast love answers and redeems.
Not going through troubled times?
Share this news with people who are struggling. Help them to experience the redeeming grace of our Lord.

Prayer

Lord, help us to see how your working hand is alive in our lives when we call upon your name. In Christ Name, we pray, AMEN
