Today's Scripture

Christmas is not over Colossians 3:12-17

12 As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. 13 Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

RJ's Devotion

 WHAT DOES THE PASSAGE say?

V. 12-14 Wear the character of followers of God, especially love.
V. 15-17 Make way for God’s will to be done in your lives, instead of following our own ways. We should also instruct and love others the ways Christ wants us to love.

What Does the passage Mean to Me/US?

I was a post about an article that was titled, ‘Ready for Christmas 2018 yet; never too soon to start.’
Why do people so obsessed with Christmas?
Maybe because people might think that it is one of the times ‘I get what I want.’

However, the joy of life comes from giving ourselves to Christ and to others, rather than getting what I want.
If we can give ourselves to others, as a gift. When our life is filled with the way of the Lord, especially love, our lives will become a gift to the world. The Message version says;

“Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. None of this going off and doing your own thing. And cultivate thankfulness. Let the Word of Christ—the Message—have the run of the house. Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense” (v. 15-16 The Message).

Prayer

Lord, work in our lives, so we can become a gift to the world. In Christ Name, we pray, AMEN
