Today's Scripture

Building God’s Dwelling-place- Exodus 25:1-9

Today’s Reading Schedule: exodus 25-27(CEB)- Click to read

The Lord said to Moses: Tell the Israelites to collect gift offerings for me. Receive my gift offerings from everyone who freely wants to give. These are the gift offerings that you should receive from them: gold, silver, and copper; blue, purple, and deep red yarns; fine linen; goats’ hair; rams’ skins dyed red; beaded leather;[a]acacia wood; oil for the lamps; spices for the anointing oil and for the sweet-smelling incense; gemstones; and gems for setting in the priest’s vest[b] and chest piece. They should make me a sanctuary so I can be present among them. You should follow the blueprints that I will show you for the dwelling and for all its equipment.

What Does the passage Mean to Me/US?

For the next couple of chapters, God will instruct Moses how to build the tabernacle, the dwelling place of God.
God is laying out a blueprint so the people can build a tabernacle that symbolized God’s presence in the nation.
I have noticed that God says, ‘Tell the Israelites to collect gift offerings for me. Receive my gift offerings from everyone who freely wants to give” (v. 2 CEB).
I realize that this happened right after the assembly witnessed the presence of God on the top of Mout Sinai. They must have seen the joy and have been awestruck by the presence of God. Out of the joy of God’s presence, they gave freely to see how they can continue to dwell in God’s presence.
I also see how God uses the gifts collected. God cannot be bound by the tabernacle. God’s presence and glory are way bigger than any human masterpiece. However, God willingly agrees to dwell in the tabernacle because of the willingness of the people responding to the joy of God’s presence.
Before we give, we need to ask, ‘do I rejoice and treasure the presence of God in my life?’

Prayer

Lord, your presence is all that I need. May this be our testimony. Help us to serve and offer our lives, as a response to your presence. In Christ Name, we pray, AMEN
